On Thursday we all attended the Open House at South Davis, the kids Elementary school, where we were able to meet both of their teachers. Stephanie's teachers are really proud of her and said that they recommended her for AP classes at the Junior High next year. Steph has been tested out for gifted and talented. But her dad and I always say that being tested out as that does not mean anything if it is not applied. Steph is a good kid and we have confidence that she will cont. the success that she has in Elementary school with Junior High next year.
We both really like Ian's 4th grade teacher. Her favorite color is purple and you can tell the moment that you step into the room. We were able to review Ian's autobiography that he made this year. We also had the privilege to assist Ian in cleaning up his desk.
After the Open house we went to the book fair where we let the kids pick out a book. Steph picked out a mystery book that she finished already on Saturday. Ian picked out a baseball book. We encourage the children to read 30mins a day. Both of them love to read, which is great to see.
On Friday night the kids stayed at their Great Aunt's house and helped her with the yard work. Then at 8:30am this morning we picked the kids up and took them home. A family tradition that we started is that we can all have as much sugar cereal while watching a movie from 9am to 12pm. We usually only last with 2 big bowels. Yes, we mix the cereals. This week it was the following, Capt Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, Frosty Flakes, Apple Jacks, Cookie Crunch, and Peanut Butter Crunch.. I have to admit they do all taste good together. In the end you end up with a colorful bowel of milk!!!! The movie that we watched this week was the Muppet's.. Can you believe these Kids had never seen the "Muppet Movie?"..
Let me give you the inside scoop on our favorite Muppet characters and we will let you decide if that character represents us..
George: the Bomber
Hilary: Janice
Steph: Animal
Ian: Kermit
