NTC for George
Okay for almost the entire month of July George was at NTC for Military training, which stands for National Training Center. They have this training site for training before deployment. Now some of you maybe thinking wow maybe they went somewhere exotic or maybe somewhere scenic. But not George because his unit went to Fort Irwin which is located in the Mojave desert in California. Where the average weather can be 110 or more. Now please keep in mind also that their training is performed outside during the day and that they are not wearing shorts and a tee shirt. No they are dressed in their normal Military uniform with many time a 40 pound or more rough sack on their back. But the good news is that George made it and even volunteered to stay a week longer to help pack up the unit and ship the materials back to Fort Riley. But luckily to George's surprise he had a new recliner waiting for him when he got home from Papa Sarge and YiaYia. He also had to opportunity to sign out on leave and get rested up for the family trip that would take him right by Fort Irwin again.
